Job Description

We Are Hiring! ACTED Sri Lanka is looking for an Area Coordinator (East).

ACTED, an international non-governmental organization working in 40 countries around the world, is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Area Coordinator based in Batticaloa. The Area Coordinator is responsible for the support team in their respective area under the supervision of the Consortium Coordinator based in Batticaloa.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Coordination:

    • External: Assist in analyzing the operational environment, managing risk, and representing ACTED in official meetings with local authorities and humanitarian coordination meetings.

    • Internal: Coordinate interdepartmental communication, chair coordination meetings (WARM, MAR, FLAT), and ensure risk mitigation measures are implemented.

  • Personnel & Base Management:

    • Responsible for the administrative management of the sub-base (leave requests, attendance sheets, running costs, and equipment management).

    • Plan and ensure sufficient office and accommodation space and fleet capacity.

  • Project Implementation:

    • Support Project Managers in implementation through troubleshooting and eliminating blocking points.

    • Ensure cross-cutting issues between support and programs are identified and addressed properly.

  • Support Team Management:

    • Finance: Responsible for expenditures at the area & sub-area level, budget management, and cash request planning.

    • Logistics: Coordinate procurement, fleet, and facilities management, and ensure proper asset and stock management.

    • HR: Oversee HR and administration related matters, recruitments, and performance appraisals.

  • Security Management:

    • Communicate security incidents to the Country Director, ensure staff adhere to safety protocols, and manage security briefings for visitors.

Qualifications & Experience

Candidates should meet the following criteria:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field such as International Development, Emergency Operations, Humanitarian Programming, Engineering, Finance, or Business Administration.

  • Experience: Minimum 2 years’ experience in project management (management, planning, staff development, and training skills) in emergency and/or development programs.

  • Skills:

    • Proven management capabilities and interpersonal leadership skills.

    • Ability to work well and punctually under pressure.

    • Excellent skills in written and spoken English.

    • Strong negotiation skills and flexibility in cultural and organizational terms.
