Job Description

Join the National Zoo Team! The Department of National Zoological Gardens is hiring Animal Keepers.

The Department of National Zoological Gardens is calling for applications from qualified individuals for the post of Animal Keeper. There are 10 vacancies available for this position.

Remuneration

• Salary Code: PL-02.

• Salary Scale: Rs. 41,800 – 10 x 490 – 10 x 540 – 10 x 590 – 12 x 630 – Rs. 65,560/-.

Qualifications & Experience

Educational Qualifications:

• Passed the G.C.E. (Ordinary Level) Examination in six (06) subjects with at least two (02) credit passes in not more than two sittings.

Vocational Qualifications:

• Should have obtained a minimum of NVQ Level 2 proficiency as determined by the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission in the relevant field.

Experience:

• Three (03) years of experience in the field relevant to the post applied for is required.

General Requirements

• Age Limit: Candidates should be not less than 18 years and not more than 45 years of age as at the closing date of applications (2026.02.27).

• Citizenship: Should be a citizen of Sri Lanka.

• Character: Applicants should be of excellent moral character

• Physical Fitness: Every candidate must be physically and mentally fit to serve in any part of Sri Lanka and perform the duties of the post.

Method of Recruitment

Recruitment will be made through a Practical Test and a Structured Interview.
